Letting go
To: Matthew
Destruction is both an ending and a beginning.
Every time something falls apart—a job, a relationship, a goal, a dream—it creates space for something new. But only if you let it.
Remember 断捨離 (danshari)—the practice of intentionally letting go. It's not just about stuff; it's about clearing away anything that no longer serves you. It's about making room for an intentional set of belongings and commitments that reflect who you are now.
You can declutter your life, removing outdated attitudes, commitments, self-image, and routines. Strip it down to the essentials and start fresh when in doubt. When your physical space is messy it's usually a reflection of your mental or spiritual space. Clean one to clean the others.
So, set yourself this rule to keep moving forward intentionally:
Change your default response from no => yes.
Challenge yourself to name a real reason why not.
If you can't find one that's compelling, do the thing.
Love, Matthew
Thought questions for you
If this resonates, pass it along to someone in your life who's facing a transition. Before you go, take a moment to answer these questions for yourself:
- What are you ready to let go of?
- What are you still holding onto?
- Where might you say yes this week?
